Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSenior Dimensional Metrology & Calibration Technician
Location:
Lafayette, IN Compensation:
$24.27/hr + $2.70/hr weekend differential Schedule:
Weekend Day Shift — Friday–Sunday, 6:30am–7:00pm
A day in the lab
When you unlock the gage lab, you become the steward of precision. You’ll bring coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), Super Micrometers, surface plates, and a host of precision instruments into spec—checking, adjusting, calibrating, and certifying each tool so production can run with confidence. You’ll plan layout inspections, work through trigonometric calculations, and validate that every measured dimension is traceable and compliant with ISO9001.
Between calibrations, you’ll triage gages that need repair, determine whether to fix in-house or coordinate with outside repair vendors, and keep meticulous records in the corporate gage system. As you master the lab, you’ll also train teammates, passing along best practices and safe handling techniques.
What you’ll own
End-to-end calibration and certification of precision measuring equipment (CMMs, Super Micrometers, surface plates, and more)
Preventive maintenance and repair of gages; coordination with external repair partners when needed
Layout inspections and trigonometric problem‑solving to verify part conformance
Documentation aligned with ISO9001 and corporate gage system requirements
Knowledge transfer and on-the-job training once fully qualified
What you bring
Hands-on background in gage checking, repair, and certification
Working knowledge of CNC machining and the ability to interpret blueprints
Strong math skills, including trigonometry applied to dimensional inspection
Mechanical aptitude, exceptional attention to detail, and careful workmanship
Proficient computer skills and disciplined recordkeeping
