Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced

Assistant Controller

with extensive expertise in non-profit accounting and compliance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of our non-profit entities while also overseeing some general accounting functions of our for-profit entities. The Assistant Controller will lead the non-profit accounting team, assist with cash flow management across the organization, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, GATA, and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Non-Profit Accounting Leadership : Oversee financial reporting, fund accounting, and grant management for non-profit entities Cash Flow Management : Assist the Controller in preparing cash flow forecasts for both for-profit and non-profit entities, and participate in cash decision-making processes. Month-End Close : Lead the month-end close process for non-profit entities, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Audit and Compliance : Manage external audit processes, prepare necessary documentation for auditors, and ensure compliance with non-profit regulations, including grant management and donor reporting. Internal Controls and Process Improvement : Implement and maintain strong internal controls to enhance operational efficiency, mitigate risk, and ensure financial accuracy. Team Leadership : Supervise the non-profit accounting team, including Senior Accountants, ensuring proper delegation of tasks and promoting a culture of collaboration and growth. Support for For-Profit Functions : Oversee general accounting functions, including general ledger management, and provide assistance with financial reporting for for-profit entities as needed. Financial Analysis : Provide financial analysis and insights to assist with strategic planning and decision-making. Collaboration with Real Estate Accounting : Work closely with the property management accounting team to ensure accurate reporting for real estate operations related to subsidized housing programs Qualifications:

Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience : 5+ years of accounting experience in non-profit organizations, with a strong understanding of fund accounting, grant management, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and GATA. Software Proficiency : Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP or similar large-scale accounting systems is required. Technical Skills : Expertise in financial reporting, fund accounting, and audit processes. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and compliance with non-profit regulations. Leadership Skills : Proven experience in managing accounting teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, and promoting continuous improvement. Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
