POSITION TITLE: Director of CTE REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools and/or designee CATEGORY: Administration/12 Months/Certified (TRS) FLSA: Exempt SALARY: Regionally Competitive
Summary: The Director of CTE is responsible for the development, organization, and direction the departments of CTE, Early College, Licensing, and Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit/Dual Degree.
Essential Functions Build leadership capacity in others. Direct and complete effective teacher and staff evaluations in conformity with law and District procedures Participates in the supervision and evaluation process of certified and non-certified staff. Ensure compliance of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Serve on and actively participate in committees as directed by the Superintendent. Provide leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing all relevant programs and processes for the district. Develop and utilize a process for building and programing enrollment projections to determine needed personnel to carry out the mission of the district. Develop, review, and implement a systematic program for the assignment of personnel within applicable departments. Provide guidance and leadership in the establishment and implementation of all district CTE policies. Support and equip administration and staff to be knowledgeable of programmatic needs, guidelines and compliance of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Assist building and district supervisors with determining staffing levels for professional and support staff. Stay informed of legislation and regulations that impact applicable areas. Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school district. Develop and implement an educational philosophy for the department. Provide continuous, effective articulation, within and throughout the department. Aid teachers new to District 209, working closely with other administrators and structured support processes. Assist with in-service professional growth of all teachers in the department. Develop esprit-de-corps among the faculty. Compile such necessary reports as requested by the district, consistent with the efficient and effective operation of the department. Support implementation of school improvement plan and school improvement initiatives. Sensitivity in working with a diverse school and community. Attend meetings of the Board of Education at the request of the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction
Qualifications/Requirements: To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess the following required education, certification, skills, experience and/or qualifications:
Master's degree in education. Doctorate degree preferred. Illinois Professional Educator License with an administrative endorsement. PERA training qualified for teacher evaluations. Previous experience as a Principal or Assistant Principal. High school preferred.
The successful candidate for this position should also possess the following desired skills, experience and/or qualifications:
Recent experience in CTE. Create a culture of excellence, professionalism, teamwork and collaboration among the staff, teachers, students, and families. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Perform written and verbal and presentations as necessary. Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision. Use of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding CTE, Early College, Licensing, and Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
