Job Summary

The Retail Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for Carhartt Retail Inc. associates, ensuring compliance of tax and legislative requirements across multiple states. Reconcile payroll and tax liabilities to general ledger, including completing monthly journal entries and reconciliations. With a focus on accuracy and timeliness, the Retail Payroll specialist will reconcile timecards and payroll data, analyze and resolve payroll issues, support payroll-related projects, and complete payroll reporting and audit duties.

Associate Responsibilities Processing of weekly and/or biweekly payrolls for Retail associates, including salary, bonuses, overtime, deductions and applicable tax withholdings. Audit payroll data for accuracy; reconcile timecards, benefits and deductions; and resolve discrepancies. Reconcile payroll and tax liabilities to general ledger, including completing monthly journal entries and reconciliations. Generate and balance annual W-2 forms and support year-end reporting. Prepare, audit and transmit payroll-related files to third-party vendors (e.g., 401(k), HSA). Monitor and ensure compliance with payroll tax laws and wage/hour legislation; research and set up new jurisdictions. Collaborate with HR on payroll-related employee changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, leaves). Analyze and resolve payroll issues; recommend improvements. Support payroll-related projects and system implementations, including testing and configuration. Provide payroll reports for management and regulatory compliance; support internal and external audits. Ensure timely and accurate service delivery to internal and external stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education

Associate's degree with accounting, payroll or human resources concentration or equivalent experience. Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years' payroll experience. Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and federal, state and local tax regulations... Familiarity with wage garnishments, child support, levies, and employment laws. Proficient in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills preferred. Skilled in payroll systems and software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and process efficiency. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Light lifting may be required, up to 10 lbs. National travel may be required (up to 10%). This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities. Carhartt is a tobacco free workplace.
