Overview
The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement. Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced trades-person to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development. Roles and Responsibilities: Lead the activities of approximately 15 piping trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment on-board submarines
Primary point of contact to interface with engineering, ship's management, quality and other trade departments Lead the team to achievement of company goals for safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement Take ownership of team performance Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma or GED 3 + years of trade, manufacturing, and/or military experience Preferred: College/technical school AS/BS degree 1 year pipefitting experience 3 years of shipyard experience Previous supervisory experience Previous related Military/Navy experience Nuclear qualifications Knowledge of 688, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA class submarines Radcon qualifications
Skills
Have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, procedures, and related reference documents Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors Must be able to work all assigned shifts Must be able to work extended hours Must be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictate Applicant must obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance as a condition of employment Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions Good presentation skills and attention to detail preferred Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point preferred
