Job Description Salary: $50,000-$65,000

The Project Engineer will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Essential Functions

Project Support: Assist the Assistant Project Manager (APM) and Project Manager (PM) to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Buyout/Procurement: Assist the APM with issuing Letters of Intent based on buyout and scope developed by PM. Assist the APM in the preparation of base subcontracts and purchase orders, assemble contract attachments and distribute contracts to subcontractors and suppliers. Help the APM with the Development of Contract Document Tracking Log and track buyout and procurement process, including LOI, executed contracts, Certificates of Insurance and Schedule of Values.

Submittals: Assist the APM with the Development of submittal registers, tracking progress, and expediting the submittal process by periodically following up with vendors. As required, review subcontractor/supplier submittals, issue to design team for review, and distribute upon approval.

Material Procurement: Assist the APM with the Development of the Material Procurement Log, and as instructed, contact vendors and input times, track fabrication progress and anticipated delivery dates to ensure material/equipment is delivered in time to avoid delaying the project.

Request for Information: Assist PM in writing RFIs, submit to owner and distribute response to subcontractors. Update RFI logs as required.

Meeting Agenda/Minutes: Assist the APM with the preparation and distribution of agendas for Owner/Design Team meetings. When instructed attend meetings and take and distribute minutes to attendees. When instructed, participate in weekly Trade / Subcontractor Coordination Meetings.

Progress Reporting: Assist the APM with the preparation of progress reporting as required.

Documentation & Compliance: Assist the APM with the development and updating of comprehensive project documentation, including procurement tracking logs, submittals logs, RFI logs, contingency logs, etc.

Closeout: Assist the APM with the tracking and collection of all closeout documents from subcontractors and assemble final closeout package for Owner as required.

Proposal Development: Assist in the preparation of technical proposals and presentations, and contract packages for potential projects.

Safety: Collect required safety documents from subcontractors and support the implementation of safety protocols to promote a safe working environment.

Project Management Software: Learn to effectively utilize construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, Newforma, Dropbox, etc.) for all project documentation.

Communication: Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, team members, and management.

Physical Demands and Work Environmental Factors While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Standing and walking is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders for site access and occasionally tolerate exposure to heights during jobsite visits.

Typical office conditions, plus occasional visits throughout construction project sites including rooftops. Work environment could involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Position may require travel to other locations for public relations, meetings, training, and education.

Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or a related field.

Co‑op experience in construction or a related field is preferred.

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).

Basic understanding of construction methods and materials.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
