Role Description The Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation of accurate, competitive bids and budgets for projects in metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, paint, and selective demolition. With at least five years of experience, the Estimator is expected to work independently on complex bids, manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, and collaborate closely with Project Managers and field leadership. This role ensures all bids are detailed, compliant with project documents, and aligned with company goals for profitability and competitiveness. Position Type:

Core Responsibilities Lead the full estimating process from bid invitation through final submission. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for framing, drywall, ceilings, paint, and demolition scopes. Develop preliminary and conceptual budgets from limited drawings or narratives. Analyze bid documents, identify risks, and prepare clarifications/exclusions. Coordinate pre‑bid RFIs and ensure responses are incorporated into estimates. Present bids and recommendations to leadership for review and approval. Solicit, analyze, and scope vendor and subcontractor quotes. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and specialty subcontractors. Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitiveness while maintaining quality. Track material pricing trends and provide feedback to leadership. Cost & Data Management Maintain and update historical cost databases and productivity rates. Benchmark against past projects to refine accuracy. Work with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure smooth transition of awarded jobs. Participate in scope review meetings with field and operations teams. Provide early procurement input for long‑lead items. Mentor and guide junior estimators or estimator assistants. Communication & Reporting Represent the company in pre‑bid meetings and client interactions. Communicate effectively with general contractors to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies. Prepare executive‑level bid summaries, comparisons, and recommendations. Contribute to strategic discussions about backlog, pipeline, and market positioning. Desired Skills & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field (preferred). Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience, with significant focus on Division 5 and Division 9 trades (metal framing, drywall, ceilings, paint, demolition). Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Bluebeam, On‑Screen Takeoff, and QuickBid. Strong Excel and database skills. Familiarity with project scheduling tools for sequencing awareness. Deep understanding of construction drawings, specifications, codes, and building assemblies. Soft Skills:
Excellent negotiation, communication, and time management. Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously. Leadership and mentoring capabilities. Reporting Structure Reports to:
Preconstruction Manager Collaborates with:
Project Managers, Project Engineers, Field Superintendents, Purchasing, and Accounting. Interfaces with:
