Role Summary The Project Estimator is responsible for executing the pre‑bid, bidding, and award phases of electrical projects of various sizes and scopes. This role plays a key part in securing competitive bids and contributing to our company's expansion across the Southeast. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver accurate, timely bids that support project success and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Forecast, receive, assess, and communicate intent to participate in bidding for electrical, instrumentation, and controls projects, including commercial, industrial, and potentially renewable energy installations.
Effectively execute pre‑bid requirements for projects.
Understand and interpret construction documents for each assigned project, analyzing blueprints and specifications to determine material, labor, and equipment needs.
Coordinate with engineers, owners, contract managers, electrical suppliers, and other invited subcontractors in bid preparation.
Create detailed bids, estimates, and scope documents to suit various contractual methods, providing solutions to enhance project profitability.
Submit complete and final bids and estimates according to deadlines.
Attend pre‑bid meetings and coordinate various pre‑bid and pre‑construction activities with contract administrators, project managers, and other project representatives.
Follow market trends and costs, reporting findings to the management team on a regular basis (e.g., monthly).
Provide code interpretations and technical support to field personnel on an as‑needed basis.
Collaborate with project managers and field personnel in creating project plans, budgets, schedules, and internal efficiency metric reports.
Additional relevant duties and tasks assigned to support project success.
Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience in electrical estimating or construction.
Bachelor's in Engineering, or Construction Management ().
Electrical License – State of NC Contractor Electrical Unlimited ().
Valid NC Driver's License (required).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (esp. Excel and Project), Accubid, Procore, and familiarity with advanced estimating tools (e.g., AI integrations ).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for achieving bid accuracy; excellent communication skills for stakeholder coordination; ability to organize, prioritize, and focus essential job functions to meet deadlines; flexibility to adapt to shifting demands.
Average physical effort required, including pulling and lifting or moving average weight material with occasional lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 25 and up to 40 pounds). Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Ability to travel regionally (Southeast US) occasionally.
Location and Travel This role will be based in the Raleigh, NC area. Regular regional travel is expected and may include overnight stays. We support work‑life balance.
