JP Court Case Manager - Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2-2
Join Fort Bend County in this role as a JP Court Case Manager, where you will play a crucial part in managing civil and criminal cases within the county’s justice system.
Responsibilities
Manage, monitor, and schedule civil and criminal cases, maintaining files to ensure due process for all litigants.
Enter complaints, tickets, and petitions accurately into the Court’s database.
Create, label, and update case files, keeping them in chronological order and filing them appropriately.
Schedule arraignments, mediations, hearings, and trials on the Court’s and Judge’s calendars.
Collect and receive filing fees and fines.
Issue writs and arrest warrants for execution by the Constable’s Office.
Legally manage, monitor, and schedule over 1,000 civil and criminal cases from filing to disposal.
Serve customers by reviewing and processing requests in person, by telephone, fax, and/or mail.
Collect and process fees over the counter and by mail, acting as a cashier.
Input data into the computer database for easy court access.
Handle civil and criminal court documents by preparing, filing, processing, entering, issuing, recording, and setting dockets.
Prepare, file, assign, and docket new cases according to office policy and state statutes to ensure filing accuracy.
Maintain confidentiality and security of documents, data, and courtroom proceedings.
Maintain proficiency in case management to minimize errors.
Train, instruct, and evaluate subordinates.
Prepare administrative reports for State and County offices and the County Commissioners Court.
Participate in emergency management activities during local or state disasters.
Minimum Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of experience within a legal system; experience in a Justice of the Peace Court is preferred.
Good computer and typing skills (minimum 35 WPM).
Excellent research, organizational, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to interact with the public, employees, and elected officials.
Salary Starting hourly wage: $20.50 - $25.63 based on qualifications.
