A well‑established, fully integrated real estate investment and management firm with a diverse portfolio of multifamily and mixed‑use properties across the Tri‑State area is seeking to add a Staff Accountant to its Bergen County office. The firm offers a collaborative, hands‑on environment with exposure to both property‑ and corporate‑level accounting.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with 1–2 years of experience who is ready to take the next step in their career and deepen their expertise in real estate accounting. You’ll work closely with senior finance leadership, gain exposure to both property operations and corporate reporting, and play an active role in the monthly close process.
Key Responsibilities
Perform bank reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and assist with month‑end close activities
Record and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions
Support financial reporting, budgeting, and ad‑hoc analysis
Maintain accurate general ledger and property‑level accounting records
Collaborate with senior accounting staff to improve processes and ensure timely, accurate reporting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
1–2 years of accounting experience; prior real estate or property accounting exposure a plus
Strong Excel skills; experience with Yardi Voyager or similar software preferred
Solid understanding of basic GAAP principles and general ledger accounting
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive with strong communication skills
Seniority level Associate
