Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer – Energy & Industrial Group

Base pay range: $116,620.00 – $179,890.00 per year.
Responsibilities
Utilize and expand your academic background in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering.
Engage in project teams designing new power plants, modifications to existing power generation facilities, and plant controls betterment.
Participate in power distribution designs and prepare specifications for procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment and related installation services.
Coordinate power plant design activities, prepare engineering calculations, and perform electrical control circuit design.
Receive mentoring, classroom‑style technical sessions, and on‑the‑job training to increase your knowledge in your engineering discipline.
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
Develop your career via peer‑learning through S&L’s systems of process and associated “Communities of Practice.”
Hybrid Work Schedule This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in‑office work 3 days per week.

Essential Skills and Experience
BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (ABET accredited) with strong background in analog and digital control systems.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as Engineer in Training.
12+ years of relevant power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience.
Experience in power or industrial controls.
Understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology, applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to project design.
Experience reading and creating logic diagrams and control narratives.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel and Access.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
Exceptional work habits and a resourceful, enthusiastic attitude.
Occasional travel may be required.
Valued But Not Required Skills and Experience
PE License (preferred).
Experience with DCS, TCS, and/or PLC programming.
Experience performing field work (control system upgrades, commissioning, startup).
Engineering consulting experience and strong client relationships with Florida clients.
