Lead Auditor Company:

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

We are the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco – a public servant with a mission to advance the nation’s monetary, financial, and payment systems. As part of the nation’s central bank, we serve the twelfth district, covering the nine western states.

Internal Audit reports to the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the San Francisco Board of Directors, supporting comprehensive audit coverage across the bank’s activities.

We have a phenomenal opportunity for a Lead Auditor for our San Francisco Internal Audit Team. You will join the Operations Audit Team which audits large-scale cash operations, federal law enforcement, facilities management, and other administrative services.

The Lead Auditor is responsible for leading district-focused internal audit assurance and consulting work: planning, conducting, documenting, and reporting audit results to determine the adequacy and effectiveness of controls, including financial reporting, operations, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

We seek a candidate with a long-term interest in internal audit, who is analytical and data-driven, and possesses strong relationship building and communication skills. The role requires travel to branches in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City—typically five days per assignment, occurring about twice per quarter. Candidates should live within commutable distance of our headquarters in downtown San Francisco, downtown Los Angeles, or Salt Lake City.

Essential Responsibilities

Supervise and review moderate to high-risk audit work performed by team members in accordance with policies and audit standards; evaluate performance; guide auditors; typically supervise 1-4 employees per assignment.

Define risk-based audit scope and objectives for district-focused audits; establish and commit to assignment time frames and budgets; develop or revise audit programs.

Execute audit programs in accordance with established policies and standards under general supervision; evaluate governance and risks.

Our ideal candidate has a long-term interest in an internal audit career and wants to plant roots in an organization that will support that goal with education, mentorship, and career pathing. You are highly conscientious, analytical, and data-driven, with strong relationship-building and communication skills.

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Our people reflect the diversity and ideas of the community we serve.
