Position Summary
Drive revenue growth in the Western region through new business development (60%) and existing account management (40%) across Food & Beverage, Nutraceutical, and Pharmaceutical channels. This role requires significant travel (30%+) and combines hunting new prospects with farming existing relationships.
Essential Responsibilities
Generate new business through cold calling, networking, trade shows, and referrals
Manage and expand existing customer relationships in the assigned territory
Research and reactivate dormant/inactive accounts to renew business interest
Conduct technical product presentations and specifications discussions
Collaborate with the internal technical team on custom formulations and customer requirements
Coordinate order processing, communicate delivery timelines, and manage fulfillment issues or stock-outs
Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular sales forecasting
Prepare and present regular sales reports and performance presentations
Research market trends and competitive intelligence
Travel for business as required
Position Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food, Marketing, Business, Sales, Communication, or related field (or equivalent experience)
At least 3 years of previous sales experience, preferably in food ingredients, nutraceuticals, or related industry
Experience in protein, polyol, and fiber ingredients is a plus
Strong presentation and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
Manage multiple projects and resources in a dispersed organization
Ability to forecast sales goals and meet with management to review achievements and objectives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong listening, presentation, and phone skills to conduct multiple daily calls
Effective team player with problem‑solving skills and ability to perform in fast‑paced, high‑growth environment
Professionalism and self‑motivation to provide excellent customer service
Ability to travel extensively within Western territory
