Material Handler II

Position Overview The Material Handler II is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials while maintaining accurate inventory records in the ERP system. This role ensures proper handling of temperature‑sensitive materials, executes warehouse operations, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and process incoming materials; securely store temperature‑sensitive materials following proper protocols.
Execute Oracle ERP system transactions including cycle counting, sub‑in‑ventory transfers, and material issuing.
Label products and verify label accuracy to ensure proper identification and traceability.
Issue materials to work orders and other uses, ensuring all transactions are completed in the ERP system.
Maintain organized stock and inventory records, facilitating seamless tracking and control.
Perform system‑driven cycle counts and physical inventory activities; analyze and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Implement, execute, and improve cycle‑count programs and 2‑bin systems.
Ensure proper product identification, separation, and control; verify expiration dates and resolve discrepancies.
Execute fulfillment activities with attention to detail in both physical handling and system documentation.
Operate forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and scales safely and effectively for loading and unloading trailers.
Utilize dock equipment including dock locks, doors, banding equipment, stretch wrappers, and hand jacks.
Conduct daily inspections of freezers and vehicles; report defects and ensure proper maintenance.
Actively participate in 5S/6S methodologies with an understanding of Kanban, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement processes.
Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets as needed for inventory analysis.
Uphold professional standards and provide excellent customer service in all business interactions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required (or 10 years of relevant experience).
1+ years of experience with ERP systems, inventory counting, and manufacturing work orders strongly preferred.
Oracle ERP experience preferred.
Experience in receiving, stockroom, shipping, material handling, and inventory analysis roles.
Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred; rapid‑growth life science environment a plus.
Experience in FDA, CLIA, or ISO regulated environments preferred.
Previous lab work experience preferred.
Current and clean California Driver's License required.
Current or prior forklift training/certification preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suites required; strong Excel skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to multi‑task and be flexible with tasks and schedules.
Ability to work independently in a team environment.
Hybrid Work Model This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for a hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies. Guardant has defined days for in‑person/onsite collaboration and work‑from‑home days for individual‑focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Compensation Primary Location: Redwood City, CA – Base Pay Range: $24,000 – $33,000. Other U.S. Locations Base Pay Range: $20,000 – $28,000. If the role is performed in Colorado, the pay range for this job is: $21,000 – $29,000.
