Special Education Teacher - South County SELPA (JOB ID 2211) Join the San Diego County Office of Education as a Special Education Teacher serving students with various disabilities within South County SELPA districts and Davila Day School.

Job Summary Plan, develop, and implement individualized education plans; conduct student assessments; provide consultation to staff and parents; participate in IEP meetings. This is an itinerant position serving more than 12,300 students from birth through age 22 in the southern region of San Diego County.

Responsibilities

Develop, write, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Administer and interpret student assessments to determine eligibility and instructional needs.

Consult with teachers, parents, and support staff to coordinate instruction and support services.

Present and lead IEP meetings, including progress reports and goal adjustments.

Provide in‑service training and consultation on special education best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.

Valid California Education Specialist credential with a mild/moderate emphasis issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

English Learner (CLAD) authorization or equivalent documentation.

CPR and First Aid certification (highly desirable).

Valid California Driver License.

Preferred Experience

Experience developing and writing IEPs and assessment procedures for students with disabilities.

Experience working with students exhibiting mental health challenges and moderate/severe support needs.

Letter of Introduction.

Two (2) current Letters of Recommendation (dated within the last year) from current/former supervisors.

Copy of Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field.

Copy of valid California credential with appropriate authorization.

Proof of CLAD Certification/English Learner Authorization if not embedded in your credential.

Valid CPR/First Aid Certification if applicable.
