Job Description Reporting to the Service Owner, CRM Consulting Services, the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator will be the primary point of contact for a new Marketing Cloud Engagement implementation, tied to a multitenant Salesforce Sales Cloud for academic administration. The position will support the marketing and communication needs of a variety of departments and offices as they communicate with students, faculty, and other constituents. This includes creating and maintaining data extensions to define constituent lists, creating and managing email templates, assisting with sends, conducting trainings and producing documentation, and managing data integrity and compliance. Knowledge of a wide range of Marketing Cloud areas—Email Studio, Automation Studio, Content Builder, Contact Builder, Journey Builder—and when to use each will be crucial. The Administrator will be customer‑facing, working with individual users and participating in governance activities to scope and prioritize ongoing marketing communication needs. The role requires the ability to explain technical options to a non‑technical audience, collaborate regularly, and independently analyze and solve problems, escalating issues when appropriate. The Administrator will join a growing CRM Services team that offers numerous professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day customer support for a multi‑tenant Marketing Cloud Engagement implementation (assisting with email templates, queries, system configuration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting).
Create and maintain email templates using AMPscript, SSJS, Content Blocks, HTML, and CSS.
Support numerous data extensions, SQL‑based automations, and journeys.
Support and maintain integrations with Salesforce Sales Cloud and other systems.
Manage the overall data integrity of subscriber data in the platform and a custom subscription and preference center.
Establish and implement best practices for system maintenance, configuration, development, testing, etc.
Monitor product releases to identify key changes and ensure backward compatibility.
Train users and compile documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of post‑secondary education or relevant work experience.
Bachelor's degree with a technology‑related focus preferred.
2+ years of experience in a technical role preferred.
Familiarity with Harvard University or higher education is a plus.
Experience with marketing communications for a major brand highly desirable.
Experience with Salesforce reports and campaigns desired but not required; experience with Education Cloud, Data Cloud, etc. Knowledge of email testing tools such as Litmus and Email on Acid a plus.
Experience with iterative, agile software development methodology and tools such as Jira a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work individually and as a team member in a collaborative environment to achieve agreed‑upon objectives.
Proven ability to handle sensitive data with discretion and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
Certificates and Licenses
Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred.
