Position Summary The Manager of Donor Engagement & Corporate Sponsorships is responsible for building and stewarding strong relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders. This role leads strategies to grow philanthropic revenue through donor cultivation, corporate sponsorships, stewardship initiatives, and tailored engagement opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a relationship‑builder with excellent communication skills and a passion for advancing the organization’s mission through fundraising partnerships. A strong desire to and demonstrated success with asking prospects for gifts is essential to success in this position.
Schedule The position is full‑time with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for events or meetings. Some local travel will be required for donor meetings and community engagement events.
Compensation & Benefits The annual salary starts at $60,000. Asheville Humane Society offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package to full‑time employees that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; a Simple IRA plan with up to 3% company match; 18 days of PTO in the first year; paid holidays; pet prescription discounts; and more. Benefits are available after 60 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit, and retain individual donors at identified giving levels.
Create personalized stewardship plans to ensure thoughtful recognition and donor satisfaction.
Maintain accurate donor records, track engagement touchpoints, and analyze giving trends.
Identify, research, and secure corporate sponsorships to support annual campaigns, programs, and events.
Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Communications to develop sponsorship proposals and partnership packages aligned with organizational goals.
Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit, and retain corporate business partners.
Maintain strong relationships with corporate contacts and ensure benefits are executed and recognized.
Track sponsorship deliverables and evaluate return on investment for partners.
Support fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives.
Collaborate with marketing and communications team members to create donor‑focused materials and outreach.
Assist with annual giving campaigns, peer‑to‑peer initiatives, and special projects as assigned.
Utilize donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) to track activity and produce reports.
Monitor fundraising progress, donor retention metrics, and sponsorship performance.
Provide regular updates to the Director of Fundraising & Engagement on goals, pipelines, and partnerships.
Work closely with leadership, board members, and staff to support fundraising efforts.
Ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment in all sponsor and donor communications.
Represent the organization at events, meetings, and community functions as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3–5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, corporate partnerships, or related roles.
Demonstrated success in cultivating donors and securing sponsorships.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with CRM/donor databases and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
Experience in nonprofit fundraising or development, event planning, or campaign management is highly preferred.
