Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Weekends Only) (Travel)
Location: Vero Beach, FL Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12 Days – Weekends Only Pay: $2,019.60/week Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a weekends-only travel assignment in a high-volume surgical department. The OR RN will primarily support weekend surgical cases, including orthopedics, spine, and general procedures, and will participate in weekday call coverage.
This role includes floating between three hospital campuses within a 20-mile radius to meet surgical volume needs. Candidates must have strong circulating skills and be able to support a range of surgical specialties in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide circulating nurse support for a variety of surgical procedures, including ortho, spine, general, robotics, and laparoscopic cases
Assist with orthopedic cases on weekends as needed
Verify sterile field, surgical equipment, and instruments
Support surgeons and anesthesia providers during anesthesia induction and intraoperative procedures
Monitor patient status and respond to changes during surgery
Administer medications and manage IV therapy per anesthesia/surgeon direction
Adhere to universal protocol and patient safety/time-out procedures
Handle and label specimens according to protocol
Maintain accurate EMR documentation in EPIC
Float between three campuses (within 20 miles) as required
Participate in required 2–3 call shifts per week
Complete time-sensitive onboarding modules and facility requirements
Qualifications
Active Florida RN license or Compact RN license (pending license accepted at submission)
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Minimum 2 years recent OR nursing experience (required)
First-time travelers accepted
Strong circulating OR experience required; ortho/spine experience strongly preferred
Certifications:
BLS (required)
ACLS (required at submission)
NIHSS (must obtain prior to start)
Proficiency in EPIC EMR (preferred/required by facility)
Must float to all 3 facilities within system
Must be nicotine-free (negative cotinine test required)
Must pass facility medication and EKG exam (2 attempts only)
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and safety awareness
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
