Benefits Consultant – Planet Pharma Immediate need for a Benefits Consultant with a pharmaceutical company. 6‑month contract only. Hybrid role in Waltham, MA.

Base pay range: $55.00/hr – $60.00/hr.

Responsibilities

Administration and compliance for health and welfare benefit programs.

Ensure compliance with governmental regulations related to benefit programs and labor law, including ERISA, HIPAA, and required state notices; stay current on law updates.

Execute compliance‑related activities such as 5500 filing, Affordable Care Act reporting, Internal Revenue Code testing for health and welfare plans, and manage tax implications for benefits.

Oversee benefits and wellness‑related communications and initiatives.

Serve as primary contact for employees for complex benefit issues.

Interpret benefits policies for employees and provide guidance.

Act as primary contact for plan providers; ensure efficient administration of benefit plans.

Accurately manage the employee life cycle for benefits (new hire, life events, open enrollment, termination).

Manage benefits portion of new employee orientation, including development and delivery of content.

Provide overall employee benefits support, ensuring processes are in place for timely employee support.

Oversee benefits invoicing and self‑billing; ensure accuracy and timely payment.

Manage additional government filings, plan audits, or other tax‑reporting requirements as assigned.

Manage the Oracle Benefits Module, ensuring accuracy for all events, changes, upgrades, and integrations.

Maintain strong cross‑functional partnership with Payroll, HRIS, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, HR Partners, Legal and IT.

Ensure day‑to‑day administration of benefit changes and enrollments are processed by HR and Payroll.

Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends as needed.

Support other HR key events such as mid‑year/year‑end performance, and compensation cycles, and update benefits module.

Develop training materials and process documentation for benefit transactions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

8–10 years of progressive benefits administration experience.

Significant experience with HR systems; Oracle HRMS experience preferred.

Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, V‑Lookups) and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Experience partnering with internal communications team and delivering content across various modes.

Strong knowledge of benefits regulations and compliance requirements (e.g. HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, required annual filings, non‑discrimination testing), federal and state laws.

Detail‑oriented with excellent follow‑up skills and high level of accuracy.

Ability to set priorities and juggle several tasks within a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with a positive attitude.

Able to work cross‑functionally with all departments.

Demonstrated functional and technical aptitude.

Maintain high level of confidentiality.

Adaptability in a continually changing environment and strong judgment in resolving issues.

Additional Requirements

8 years of relevant benefits admin experience is required.

Proficiency in Excel is required.

Experience working with HRIS and wellness programs is a nice to have.
