Job Summary The Manager, Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for integrating and advancing clinical pharmacy services at their assigned site(s) and across the Rush University System for Health (“Rush”) to ensure safe, effective, and cost‑conscious medication use. This role provides clinical leadership through the site implementation of system‑level clinical and formulary initiatives, contributions to the development of guidelines, oversight of formulary medication usage, review of non‑formulary medication requests, drug use evaluations, and direct support to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff. The Manager, Clinical Pharmacy manages and supports development of clinical coordinators, pharmacists, and technicians, students, and residents, as appropriate. The role ensures that all clinical services are patient‑centered, evidence‑based, and aligned with system goals, regulatory standards, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE‑accredited school of pharmacy
Active pharmacist licensure or eligibility to get a pharmacy license in the practicing state within 3 months of hire.
Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of five years of hospital pharmacy experience
Demonstrated knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, automation, and regulatory standards.
Strong leadership, analytical, and critical thinking skills with ability to manage change and drive improvement.
Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with ability to coach and mentor staff.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Epic, and related informatics and pharmacy systems.
Active involvement in professional pharmacy organizations.
Dependable attendance, flexibility with scheduling, and ability to work independently and in teams.
Preferred Qualifications
PGY2 residency in pharmacy administration/management or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
At least two years in a supervisory or lead role.
Completion of an ASHP‑accredited PGY‑1 residency and PGY‑2 HSPAL residency or equivalent experience.
Board Certification (e.g., BCPS, BCIDP, BCCCP) or equivalent clinical credential.
Master’s degree in business or healthcare administration.
