Medix is currently partnered with a contract manufacturer specializing in precision components for the medical device industry. They provide end-to-end services including product design support, prototyping, precision machining, fabrication, and finishing operations such as electropolishing, anodizing, and heat-treating. Serving both startups and established OEMs, they focus on complex, high‑precision parts like mandrels, core wires, and micro‑machined components, supporting products from early development through volume production. With a strong emphasis on quality, regulatory compliance, and manufacturability, they help clients bring innovative medical devices to market efficiently and reliably.
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical support that optimizes production processes, enhances efficiency, and ensures consistent high-quality manufacturing operations. The role will focus on new product launches, process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and waste minimization. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will support the expansion of manufacturing operations to an additional site, including facility layout, equipment selection, and process transfer activities.
Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Optimization & Support: Develop and refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost‑effectiveness. Provide hands‑on support to troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and other departments to ensure smooth integration of manufacturing processes. Prepare and maintain process documentation such as work instructions, flow diagrams, process risk assessments (pFMEAs), control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and waste reduction in manufacturing processes.
Expansion Support & Facility Integration: Assist in planning and executing the expansion to a new manufacturing site, ensuring a seamless transition of production processes. Contribute to new site layout design, equipment selection, and workflow optimization. Support process, tooling, and equipment transfer activities while minimizing production disruptions. Ensure all expansion activities comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards (ISO 13485, FDA requirements). Identify opportunities for new equipment and process improvements, preparing business cases for capital projects. Oversee installation, validation, and integration of new manufacturing equipment. Apply automation, lean manufacturing, and error‑proofing strategies to improve throughput and reduce costs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within medical devices or other regulated industries.
Experience in developing manufacturing processes, validating production methods, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Familiarity with supporting facility expansions or transferring manufacturing processes is preferred.
Experience with outsourced services such as passivation, heat treating, coatings, plating, electropolishing, anodizing, or welding.
Strong hands‑on troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
