Medical Laboratory Technician Part Time Afternoons – IDEXX
Join IDEXX as a part‑time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in Charleston, SC. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
In This Role
You will use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic tools to perform analyses that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases.
You will deliver diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal and biopsy samples received daily by the lab.
You will set up, run and read lab tests, releasing results in accordance with SOPs.
You will specialize in one or more of the following areas:
Hematology – testing blood components, microscopic evaluation of smears, automated and manual counting.
Chemistry / Endocrinology – testing blood and body fluids using automated instrumentation.
Urinalysis – chemical and microscopic evaluation of urine.
Immunology / Serology – detecting antibodies or antigens in blood and other specimens.
What You Need to Succeed
High School diploma or equivalent, or a 2‑, 3‑ or 4‑year degree in a science‑related field.
Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT/CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician is a plus.
Proficiency in setting up, running and reading laboratory tests and operating equipment such as microscopes, pipettes and analyzers.
Positive, team‑oriented attitude and strong attention to detail.
Ability to perform extended periods of standing and sitting, lift up to 50 lb and meet vision requirements for microscope and instrument use.
Comfort with potential exposure to biohazards and hazardous chemicals.
