Software Engineer – Modeling & Simulation Full-Time | On-Site – Chantilly, VA (customer site) and Arlington, VA (office site)
Location:
Work primarily on-site with the customer in Chantilly, VA; occasional work required at ExoAnalytic’s Arlington, VA office.
Citizenship:
United States citizenship required
Security Clearance:
Active TS/SCI clearance required; all offers are contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance

ABOUT THE ROLE ExoAnalytic Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer focused on modeling & simulation to support the development of advanced software used to simulate the motion, interaction, and characterization of satellites, sensors, and ground systems.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high‑fidelity modeling and simulation frameworks for space and missile defense missions. You’ll work closely with domain experts and other engineers on‑site with the customer in Chantilly, VA, to build realistic physics‑based models, visualization tools, and analysis systems that drive critical decision‑making for security operations.
This position is ideal for a technically strong software engineer with a passion for space systems, orbital mechanics, and simulation development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software.
Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Work collaboratively with a team of engineers and domain experts.
Support development of modeling and simulation software frameworks used to simulate the motion and interaction of satellites, sensors, and ground systems.
Contribute to projects involving real‑time simulation, visualization, and system modeling for space and missile defense applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
2–8 years of software development experience in one or more general‑purpose programming.
Experience using software version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub).
Experience working with two or more of the following:
3D visualization or simulation development
User interface design or game engine technologies
System or behavior modeling
Space systems, control theory, or orbital dynamics
Model‑based systems engineering
Active Top‑Secret (TS/SCI) clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with one or more of the following programming: Python, Cython, C/C++, Java, XML, SQL, JavaScript, GLSL, or MATLAB.
Experience developing simulations or visualization systems related to space systems, sensors, or spacecraft subsystems (e.g., optics, remote sensing, communications, or power).
Familiarity with simulation engines or 3D visualization frameworks (e.g., Unity3D, Unreal Engine, OpenGL, or WebGL).
Interest and ability to learn about space operations, orbital mechanics, and defense technologies.
SALARY RANGE $85,000 - $155,000 annually.
Actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job‑related knowledge and skills, education, and years of experience.
