PRIMARY PURPOSE : The Applications Developer I supports the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of application programs and software solutions for the Degree Works system at the University of South Florida. This role assists in translating academic degree program requirements into Degree Works Scribe language to create accurate degree audits for academic planning and certification. The developer works closely with academic units and technical teams to ensure effective implementation and ongoing support of Degree Works, contributing to student success and institutional goals.
Responsibilities
Assist academic units in analyzing degree program requirements.
Translate academic/business logic into Degree Works Scribe language.
Develop and maintain degree program information in Scribe, implement it in Degree Works, and support the code throughout the software lifecycle.
Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and other technical staff to support system lifecycle activities, including configuration, upgrades, testing, and issue resolution.
Participate in analysis of Scribe changes and vendor updates that may impact Degree Works.
Assist in identifying, developing, and implementing solutions to technical and functional issues within Degree Works.
Research and apply new methods for problem-solving and prevention across the Degree Works ecosystem.
Participate in training sessions for functional/business clients and technical colleagues.
Collaborate in peer reviews and pair programming activities to support team learning and quality assurance.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent and IT certification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1-year relevant work experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSAs):
PL/SQL, Ability to learn and apply Scribe language is essential.
