Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Civil CAD Designer to lead our CAD department and join our Site Development Team in Austin. The ideal candidate has deep technical experience in Civil 3D, strong leadership skills, and a passion for mentoring while producing high‑quality site development plans.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the head of the CAD department , overseeing day‑to‑day operations and ensuring consistent application of drafting standards and processes.

Produce detailed civil engineering drawings

using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, utilities, drainage, and roadway plans.

Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings .

Set up and manage sheet sets, drawing databases, and Civil 3D data shortcuts .

Draft engineering plans

based on verbal instructions, redlines, and conceptual sketches.

Maintain and enforce CAD standards

across all projects.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance

to junior and mid‑level CAD staff.

Lead CAD team reviews, QA/QC checks, and support professional development

for the drafting team.

Support construction documentation , including preparing field‑ready drawing sets.

Archive technical documentation

per Mahoney Engineering protocols.

Communicate and coordinate with engineers, project managers, and team members

to ensure seamless integration of design workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of experience in civil drafting/design for land development .

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D , including pipe networks, surfaces, profiles, data shortcuts, and corridor modeling.

Prior experience leading or managing CAD production teams .

Solid understanding of construction design methods .

Familiarity with XREFs and document management systems .

Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills .

Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) .

Post‑secondary education in Drafting Technology or Civil Engineering Technology .

Compensation & Benefits Hourly Range:

$35.00 – $51.00/hour

Annual Equivalent:

$72,800 – $106,000 (based on a 40‑hour work week)
