Overview As a Project Manager – Ports and Maritime, Southeast U.S., you will operate as an energetic, client-focused leader with a broad range of ports and maritime experience. You will engage with clients, understand their needs, and lead high-performing solution teams to pursue business opportunities for Black & Veatch. The role focuses on growing our footprint by engaging with public agency ports and maritime entities, coordinating with solution teams to deliver quality consulting and engineering services, and developing a growth strategy for the Southeast U.S. region.

The Team Black & Veatch’s Governments & Communities sector focuses on infrastructure needs of municipalities, state and local governments, federal agencies, and public authorities. This role contributes to delivering physical and digital infrastructure solutions for port public agencies and community benefit.

Key Responsibilities

Work with senior leadership to develop ports and maritime business strategy for the Southeast U.S. region.

Develop a client base for high-level port and maritime consulting and engineering services, including identifying additional business opportunities.

Lead business development activities with sales and solution teams; manage client relationships; assist with proposal development, technical and conference presentations.

Collaborate with solution and engineering teams to grow port and maritime-focused solutions, including consulting, planning, and engineering services.

Oversee delivery of projects to meet or exceed client expectations and internal objectives.

Maintain relationships with key clients, decision makers, teaming partners, regulators, stakeholders, and agency staff, converting relationships into new opportunities.

Support oversight on regional projects to achieve client objectives and company metrics related to budget and schedule.

Set hiring priorities and develop local staff to enable strategy objectives, including client-focused and solution- and technical-focused candidates; mentor staff on career growth.

Track and manage growth of the business funnel for regional ports and maritime opportunities.

Management Responsibilities Acts as a project manager with responsibility for managing a project team. The team composition may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the ports and maritime industry with strong client relationships in the Southeast U.S.

Proficiency in marine, port and coastal engineering principles, practices, design/build, and related issues.

10+ years of client development and project execution experience with a proven portfolio serving public agency clients.

Demonstrated experience in a client-facing/business development role.

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering discipline.

Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card, which requires a TSA background check.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected), which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
