Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager for its Oil, Gas & Energy team. The role focuses on leading project management from engineering through construction, ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction across the oil & gas, hydrogen, and CCUS markets.
Opportunity The Senior Project Manager will serve as the main client interface, oversee project execution, drive cost and schedule performance, and coordinate technical design and procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Act as primary client contact, enforcing safety and quality standards.
Provide overall project management from engineering through construction.
Prepare and maintain project execution plans and schedules.
Direct engineering teams for design execution.
Promote quality, value, timeliness, and profitability.
Review technical deliverables for feasibility and cohesion.
Identify and communicate required project resources.
Lead risk management reporting at portfolio and project levels.
Coordinate key meetings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
Project Controls
Develop and refine cost estimates and Master Project Schedule.
Manage cost control, budget vs. actual, and change management.
Track progress and produce project reports.
Oversee engineering scope and cost estimation preparation.
Provide procurement direction for vendor selection and bidding.
Ensure project documentation is complete and stored.
Act as contract liaison for contract performance.
Analyze profitability, revenue, and utilization.
Maintain invoicing, revenue recognition, and receivable monitoring.
Mentor construction teams throughout the construction phase.
Collaborate with Supply Chain on scope and bidding documents.
Promote HSE program across all project phases.
Capabilities and Credentials
Manage multiple projects simultaneously at various locations.
Develop front‑end project scopes, estimates, and schedules for go/no‑go decisions.
Experience in upstream, midstream, downstream, and energy transition projects.
Ability to read technical documents, contracts, and new technologies.
Experience writing proposals and supervising engineering staff.
Strong knowledge of U.S. regulations and federal/state jurisdictions.
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Travel 20% to U.S. field locations.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
Education and Experience • Minimum 8 years of oil and gas project management experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation and business development experience preferred.
• Comfortable with long periods of computer work and field exposure to weather; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay Range
Locations: MN, OH, VT, CA, NY – Min $128,600, Max $192,900
