About the Role Our aerospace client is seeking a hands‑on
Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)
to strengthen their manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of process excellence, supplier development, and technical collaboration. The SQE will drive supplier performance and ensure alignment with aerospace and defense quality standards through proactive auditing, process validation, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Conduct detailed supplier audits to evaluate quality systems, processes, and compliance with
AS9100 ,
NADCAP , and customer‑specific requirements.
Qualify and monitor new and existing suppliers for ongoing performance and process capability.
Lead investigations of non‑conformances and oversee
root cause and corrective actions (CAPA) .
Partner closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues in
welding ,
machining , and
special processes .
Support
New Product Introduction (NPI)
by ensuring supplier readiness and quality system alignment.
Maintain supplier quality agreements and documentation in accordance with
ITAR/EAR
and
DFARS .
Track and report supplier metrics including
PPAP/FAI , delivery quality, and responsiveness.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical ,
Aerospace , or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum
5 years of aerospace or Department of Defense machining manufacturing experience.
Strong knowledge of
manufacturing quality systems
and
process engineering .
Deep understanding of
AS9100 ,
NADCAP , and
FAI/PPAP
requirements.
Expertise in
welding standards (AWS D17.1/B2.1)
and related documentation ( WPS/PQR ).
Proficient with
SolidWorks 3D CAD
and able to interpret and redline supplier drawings.
Skilled in
root cause analysis
and continuous improvement tools ( 8D ,
5 Whys ,
Pareto ).
Strong communicator who builds credibility with suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
Ability to travel up to
30–50%
domestically or internationally.
U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Person status required
per 22 U.S.C. § 6010.
Preferred
Familiarity with
APQP ,
FMEA , and control plans.
ERP experience ( SAP
or equivalent).
Knowledge of
Lean
or
Six Sigma
practices (certification a plus).
