General Description PREP Research Associate

This position is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. NIST encourages research staff to collaborate with academic institutions on projects of mutual interest, requiring such institutions to receive a PREP award. Employees in this role will conduct technical work that underpins the scientific research of collaborative projects.

Responsibilities

Identify and develop metrics for NIST’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) efforts to assess industrial uptake and impact.

Become familiar with NIST’s AI outputs and stakeholders.

Perform literature reviews and analysis on various approaches and metrics to measure uptake and impact.

Conduct detailed analysis using statistical tools to assess the status and uptake of NIST AI outputs and provide metrics on impacts and trends.

Provide recommendations on opportunity areas where NIST should allocate resources to enhance the impact of our AI outputs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business/Economics, Social Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Familiarity with artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, and data collection.

Understanding of American government and politics.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
