MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ) is the merging of two important heritages: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and the CRJ Series program. We provide comprehensive critical operational, engineering and customer support solutions including maintenance, refurbishment, technical publications, marketing and sales activities for the global regional aircraft industry.
We’re hiring a Director, Operational Performance & Industrial Engineering to help drive our continued success!
Purpose of the role The Director, Operational Performance & Industrial Engineering plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and business transformation across MHIRJs Service Centers. You will lead strategic initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and turnaround performance directly impacting profitability and customer satisfaction.
This role is ideal for a data-driven, hands‑on leader with a proven track record in operational improvement, industrial engineering, and change management within complex, high‑stakes environments. Youll partner closely with senior leadership to translate data into action, elevate performance culture, and embed sustainable, measurable improvements.
Daily responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and tracking of performance KPIs focused on efficiency, quality, safety, and turnaround time.
Analyze production data to uncover trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
Partner with operations and site leadership to optimize workflow, capacity planning, and resource utilization.
Champion lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints methodologies to streamline processes and reduce waste.
Drive initiatives that improve on‑time delivery, reduce rework, and elevate customer satisfaction.
Develop and maintain standard work procedures, labor standards, and capacity models for maintenance operations.
Lead continuous improvement and performance optimization projects across multi‑site operations.
Support capital investment decisions through ROI and performance impact analyses.
Build and lead a high‑performing team dedicated to operational performance and industrial engineering.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Operations Management, Aviation Maintenance, or a related discipline.
10+ years of progressive experience in operations, industrial engineering, or performance management ideally within aviation MRO or a complex environment.
Demonstrated success implementing lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proven ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and convert insights into sustainable operational improvements.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with experience managing cross‑functional teams.
High comfort level working in dynamic, fast‑paced environments with evolving priorities.
Knowledge of FAA Part 145 or other regulated operational frameworks (a strong asset).
Strategic mindset with a hands‑on approach and strong bias for action.
