Electrical Designer
– Full‑time position at

(Phoenix, AZ). Join our dynamic team where you will design electrical power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, and control systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
Responsibilities
Prepare biddable construction documents (plans and technical specifications) from conception through construction management.
Create, read, and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Compute electrical calculations including loads/services, panel schedules, short‑circuit currents, voltage drop, conduit and conductor sizing, VFD harmonics, and backup generators.
Coordinate with equipment vendors, manufacturers, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams.
Make site visits to gather information for design development.
Prepare engineering memos, reports, and facility assessments using technical writing and grammar best practices.
Prepare budgetary cost estimates.
Coordinate with local electric service providers and authority having jurisdiction on electrical building permit submittals, design reviews, and comment resolution.
Conduct design reviews of documents created by others, including junior staff, to ensure quality and completeness.
Assist in the development and management of entry‑level and junior‑level staff.
Provide post‑design support to construction administration personnel as needed.
Essential Skills
7–10 years of downstream power distribution design experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (file rotation, Excel linking, title blocks, symbols, PDF export, CAD etiquette).
Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Knowledge of power distribution and electrical plan design.
Ability to perform load calculations and arc‑flash studies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with SKM software for arc‑flash hazard studies (preferred).
Working knowledge of AGI32 photometric lighting software (preferred).
Knowledge of NFPA 820, NFPA 30, UL‑508A, UL‑698, and related codes/standards (preferred).
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Bluebeam or other PDF tools.
Work Environment The role is primarily office‑based with a flexible hybrid schedule to accommodate personal needs. The team consists of four engineering professionals and two construction specialists.
