CommonSpirit Health
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Environmental Services Tech at Virginia Mason, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll keep patient rooms and all hospital areas clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. You’ll succeed in this role if you are thorough, committed to safety, and capable of performing routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and using specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize the facility. You will also learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects, and safely use disinfecting chemicals. Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, tissue holders, and other supplies, and deliver clean linens to patient rooms. We value friendliness and enthusiasm—you will be the most important component of safety and comfort for our patients, visitors, and staff. A clean facility with kind staff provides comfort and peace of mind. Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to appropriate hospital areas — dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash. Sanitize hospital areas using approved tools and routines, varying by location (patient rooms, ER, OR, hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, restrooms). Use proper chemicals, procedures, and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces thoroughly. Restock supplies as needed in supply areas, common areas, and patient rooms, including soap, paper towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, bath linens, bed linens, and cleaning supplies. Learn and follow proper medical waste disposal techniques, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids or sharp implements. Remain patient, kind, and personable in all interactions with patients, visitors, and staff. Qualifications
Ability to read and write in English and follow verbal instructions. Experience in housekeeping or environmental services in a commercial or healthcare environment is preferred. While you’re busy impacting the healthcare industry, we’ll take care of you with benefits that include health, dental, vision, FSA, matching retirement plans, paid vacation, adoption assistance, and more. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Where You'll Work
