Overview
Join our Process Engineering Group as a Process Utilities Engineer SME driving complex utilities design projects within the Pharma/Biotech/Life Science industry. This key role involves leading detailed engineering design, preparing technical specifications, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with cGMP's, ASME BPE, and regulatory standards (FDA, EMA). We're looking for a professional with 8+ years of experience in process design, PFD/P&ID development, and expertise in systems like Cleanrooms, Compressed Air, and Cryogenics. Your work will be crucial in all phases, from conceptual design through commissioning.
Responsibilities
Prepare Project Technical Requirements Specification for all systems specifying performance requirements & applicable client Standards
Research applicable industry standards, prepare engineering studies, analysis of systems, preliminary and detailed process engineering designs.
Develop engineering specifications and project cost estimates.
Review work of project design team, check progress of work and alert managers to change of scope and additional services.
Coordinate most aspects of project document completion.
Direct CAD designers for the preparation of construction drawings.
Interpret and apply applicable codes.
Independently work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to codes is required.
Coordinate project design with other engineering disciplines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Professional Engineer licensure is preferred
Minimum of eight (8) years of process design engineering experience helping to create and review process drawing packages for a wide range of projects
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience preparing and reviewing PFD’s, P&ID’s, equipment and piping specifications
Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting projects within the Pharma/Biotech/Life Science industry
Subject Matter Expert in Compressed air, Clean Compressed Air, Carbon Dioxide, Liquid Nitrogen, Cleanrooms and associated GMP construction
Experience with FDA, EMA, and other regulatory standards and requirements required
Advanced knowledge and application of cGMP’s and ASME BPE required
Working knowledge with ASME B31.3 piping code
Working knowledge of pressure drop calculations for incompressible and compressible fluids
Working knowledge of sizing centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and other process equipment
Working knowledge of with manual and automatic valve types and applications
Working knowledge of electrical area classification – NFPA 497
Working knowledge of NFPA fire codes (NFPA 30/NFPA 55 preferred)
Familiarity of IBC building code
Basic knowledge of ASME BPVC, Division 1
Working knowledge of process controls/automation
Working knowledge of control valve and flow meter sizing and selection
Software
Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
AutoCAD (ability to open drawings, navigate, edit text, and print)
Compensation And Benefits
Pay: $120,000-155,000 annually (based upon experience)
Annual Profit Sharing Bonus (variable)
