Underwriter / Senior Underwriter – Excess Casualty – Global P&C Insurance Carrier (Atlanta, GA)

About the Opportunity James Search Group is partnering with a

global property & casualty (P&C) insurance carrier

to recruit an

Underwriter or Senior Underwriter

specializing in

Excess Casualty Lines . This is an

hybrid role

based in

Atlanta, GA from either their Buckhead or Alpharetta offices

offering an opportunity to work on a dynamic and growing book of business within a collaborative, high-performing underwriting team.

The ideal candidate will bring

2–3+ years of experience

in casualty underwriting and a strong interest in complex risk assessment. This position is well-suited for both emerging underwriters looking to take the next step in their career and experienced professionals ready to take ownership of a diverse, profitable portfolio.

Compensation Base salary range:

$100,000 – $170,000 (commensurate with experience), plus annual bonus potential and a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and 401(k) with match.

Key Responsibilities

Underwrite and price

excess casualty

accounts within delegated authority, ensuring sound risk selection and profitability.

Support underwriting strategy by analyzing exposure data, loss history, and industry trends.

Build and maintain productive relationships with

retail and wholesale brokers

to drive submission flow and market presence.

Collaborate cross-functionally with actuarial, claims, and risk control teams to deliver tailored solutions.

Contribute to new business development initiatives and assist in renewal negotiations.

Maintain high standards of documentation, compliance, and adherence to underwriting guidelines.

Qualifications

2–3+ years

of underwriting experience in casualty or excess casualty lines (junior and senior candidates considered).

Solid understanding of liability coverage forms, pricing, and policy structures.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, or a related field preferred.
