OCC Controller, Bus Operations

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking a Bus OCC Control Room Controller (DOT Non‑Exempt IV) to monitor, direct, and coordinate control center functions for the City of Baltimore.
Key Responsibilities
Monitors and directs control center functions including the service control board and service and route alignment.
Performs radio communications and dispatching of operators.
Notifies Management of operational issues such as service disruptions caused by serious accidents or major loss of equipment.
Maintains data entry on all control room forms, radio and telephone communications, and alerts management of service‑related issues.
Works shifts, including weekends and holidays, across a 24‑hour, 7‑day operation; may be required to work extended hours in emergency situations.
Qualifications Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. A bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Management, or a related field may be substituted for experience at a rate of 30 credit hours per year of required experience, up to two years.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in a transit system and/or transportation operation. At least three (3) years must have involved working in a bus environment. Candidates with U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in staff work related to administration and coordination of unit operations may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employees are required to work shifts, including evenings, holidays, and weekends; maintain a reliable communication link for 24‑hour emergency call‑back requirements; and may be required to travel to various locations throughout the MTA service area. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing per federal regulations and must possess a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license.
