Job Summary Starting salary: $60,819/yr or $93,413/yr. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

Completes full cycle accounting functions and maintains daily financial transactions within the agency.

Assists as support staff for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Travel Reimbursement sections of Finance, when applicable.

Prepare bank reconciliations documenting revenue and expenses for all general and special revenue funds.

Maintain and/or establish revenue collection methods such as EFT/ACH, wires and credit cards.

Maintain records for all Local, State and Federal forfeiture and agency donation funds.

Prepare financial documents for the annual audit and provide requested documentation.

Prepare and submit financial reports to various entities (Florida Department of Financial Services). Prepare annual IRS 1099 tax statements.

Reconcile bi‑weekly payroll numbers to general ledger, verifying payroll expenditures match bank cash outflows.

Assist Fiscal Managers with special projects as required.

Conduct an annual audit of financial activity for the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.

Respond to common payroll inquiries or complaints from employees and regulatory agencies.

Minimum Requirements & Essential Functions

At least 18 years of age.

Fluent communication in written and verbal English.

U.S. citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.

Clean criminal history; arrest history evaluated individually.

No illegal drug usage within the past year.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field AND two (2) years relevant experience OR equivalent education/experience. Related experience includes payroll, finance, grants, and/or procurement.

Two (2) years of direct experience for an Associate Degree.

Four (4) years of direct experience for a Bachelor’s Degree.

Ability to interpret the financial position of the agency through maintained and summarized reports.

Ability to monitor cash flow and report issues to the Comptroller.

Ability to maintain and establish revenue collection methods such as EFT/ACH, wires and credit cards.

Intermediate mathematical skills and advanced analytical skills.

Proficient organizational and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Legal knowledge of appropriate laws, codes, regulations concerning government purchasing processes.
