Job Overview Are you a numbers‑minded professional who enjoys leading a team and making a real impact behind the scenes? The McHenry County Conservation District is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the District’s accounting operations and ensure the integrity of its financial systems.

In this key leadership role, you’ll manage all core accounting functions—including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting—while supervising a dedicated accounting team. Working closely with the Director of Administration and Finance, you’ll help guide the District’s fiscal operations and support its mission.

What we’re looking for: A detail‑oriented professional with strong experience in payroll, general ledger management, financial reporting systems (MSI preferred), and proven leadership skills. The ideal candidate will also have advanced knowledge of fund accounting principles and budget development practices. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of seven years of experience in governmental accounting, including three years in a supervisory or management role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
