Position Overview Netgroup Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in pneumatics and automotive systems to join our team in Greensboro, NC. You will play a critical role supporting vehicle builds across multiple sites, including Dublin, VA, and Macungie, PA workshops, while driving design activities and resolving technical challenges in close collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

This role focuses on component and bracket design, pneumatic schematics, and system integration, especially in the context of braking systems and FMVSS 127 compliance. You’ll also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high‑quality deliverables throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

Represent the pneumatic engineering team and support vehicle builds at NRV, LRO, and Brigham workshops as needed.

Lead and support the design and documentation of sheet metal brackets, pneumatic components, and installation layouts.

Resolve build issues reported by GTO and cross‑functional teams by coordinating with responsible engineers.

Manage CAD modeling, line number documentation, and design releases using CREO and PDM (KOLA).

Drive resolution of open issues (PILs), Design Change Notices (DCNs), and Product Change Requests (PCRs).

Lead discussions with technical leads, group managers, and cross‑functional (XF) teams to review progress and align on project goals.

Ensure all deliverables meet QDCCF (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, and Function) targets.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across design and development phases.

Required Competencies

Strong knowledge of pneumatic schematics and components (valves, fittings, tubes, connectors, etc.)

Proficient in CREO (piping, part, sheet metal, and assembly modules)

Expertise in sheet metal bracket design and vehicle packaging

Deep understanding of GD&T and FMVSS 127 braking standards

Familiarity with Volvo tools and development processes is a significant advantage

Experience in supplier communication and issue resolution

Excellent communication, networking, and problem‑solving skills

Structured, accountable, and proactive approach to project tasks

Project Deliverables

Resolving all PILs related to pneumatic systems

Releasing CAD modules, line number documentation, and DCNs in KOLA

Implementing PCRs with alignment across cross‑functional teams

Supporting and consolidating feedback from vehicle builds

Proposing and implementing continuous improvement ideas
