Teen Counselor – MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service

We are looking for a Teen Counselor to join us as we carry out our mission to positively impact lives and communities across the state.
Nature and Scope Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, the Teen Counselor plans, organizes all program activities at the Y Branch; ensures the safety of youth and teens; creates and leads monthly special events; and coordinates weekly teen clubs. This is a grant‑funded position.
Responsibilities
Carry out daily program tasks related to the position’s scope and responsibility.
Provide leadership and supervision to participants within the program, with guidance from the Youth Development Director.
Instruct lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, preparing lesson plans accordingly.
Stay updated on current issues concerning the programs.
Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all programs run smoothly and provide a high level of service to participants.
Coordinate and ensure all program components meet compliance of the Goizueta Grant.
Build effective, authentic relationships with teen participants and parents/guardians; encourage parent involvement and identify potential volunteers.
Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.
Other duties as assigned.
Perform duties in accordance with YMCA policies, mission, safety protocols and member services guidelines.
Implement YMCA safety protocols related to Youth and Teen Safety Policy and branch operations.
Assist with program checks that ensure participant/staff adherence to Y safety protocols.
Adhere to the YMCA Youth and Teen Safety Policy.
Requirements
Must be 18 years of age.
High School diploma.
2‑4 years prior experience working with school‑age youth or teens in a group setting.
Evidence of current successful completion of biennial training in CPR/First Aid/BLS, or completion within 30 days of hire.
Completion of Youth and Teen Safety Training prior to first day of scheduled work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Must pass pre‑employment background check, drug screen and motor vehicle record.
Location Decatur Dekalb Family YMCA – Decatur, GA
Employment Requirements
Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check including criminal record check, drug screening and MVR.
Legally eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
