The Total Rewards Specialist is responsible for the design, administration, and communication of InCommunity’s compensation, benefits, and recognition programs. This role ensures that total rewards programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the organization’s mission to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Specialist serves as a key partner in promoting employee well‑being, financial security, and engagement while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Compensation & Payroll

Serve as the process leader for the organization’s bi‑weekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing in coordination with Finance and HR operations.

Review, audit, and reconcile payroll data for accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Support the development, review, and implementation of compensation structures that ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.

Conduct salary benchmarking and market analyses for key roles.

Partner with Finance and People & Culture leadership to support annual budgeting, salary adjustments, and merit processes.

Monitor compliance with wage and hour laws, FLSA classifications, and organizational pay policies.

Benefits Administration

Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness programs).

Administer open enrollment and life event changes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Provide guidance to employees on benefit options, enrollment, and claims processes.

Manage vendor relationships with brokers, carriers, and third‑party administrators.

Monitor benefit utilization, costs, and employee feedback to recommend improvements.

Recognition & Well‑Being

Support employee recognition programs that highlight contributions and reinforce InCommunity’s values.

Partner with the Culture & Engagement team to align recognition and wellness initiatives.

Research and recommend innovative practices in well‑being, work‑life balance, and rewards.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.

Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity in HRIS/benefits systems.

Prepare reports on compensation, benefits utilization, and turnover for leadership decision‑making.

Employee Communication & Support

Develop and deliver clear communication materials that explain rewards programs.

Educate employees on the value of total rewards and promote participation in programs.

Provide responsive and confidential support for employee questions and issues related to pay and benefits.

Qualifications Education, Certifications & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

3–5 years of experience in compensation, benefits, or HR operations.

Experience leading payroll processes and working with payroll systems required. Experience with Paycom strongly preferred.

Experience with HRIS/benefits platforms and vendor management required. Experience working with Paycom preferred.

Nonprofit or healthcare/IDD sector experience a plus.

HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM‑CP, CEBS) strongly preferred.
