Description This position will support air monitoring operations by utilizing air sampling equipment, collecting particulate samples, and compiling data from various sources (e.g., strip, chart, continuous air analysis equipment, high‑volume air sampling filters). The specialist will measure ambient and stack concentrations of pollutants, verify data validity, prepare air quality indexes and source test reports, and perform other related duties as required.

Salary: $15.33–$29.65 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, or another accredited science‑related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
Basic knowledge of air pollution as it relates to air monitoring.
Valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
Experience Evaluation An experience evaluation will be based on the applicant’s academic training and experience, assessed through the application and required credentials.
Residency Credit Applicants who have had a primary residence in the City of Cleveland for at least one year at the time of filing a Civil Service examination and who achieve a passing grade on the written exam will receive ten (10) residency points added to their passing score. To substantiate this claim, applicants must upload a signed and notarized Residency Affidavit.
Veterans’ Preference Veterans may receive additional points. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing the examination in which credit is sought. An honorable or general honorable discharge grants five (5) points; more than 15 % service‑connected disability grants ten (10) points.
