Electrical Distribution Project Engineer (PE)
Join HDR as an Electrical Distribution Project Engineer (PE) and help shape the future of power delivery. We’re seeking a skilled engineer to join our growing, nationally ranked Power Delivery team.
Overview As an Electrical Distribution Project Engineer, you will undertake complex design and delivery of overhead and underground electric power distribution systems, including system planning, lighting design, grounding & lightning protection. You will work independently, mentor junior staff, coordinate construction packages, and lead design reviews with clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare technical deliverables for the conceptual and detailed design of distribution and lighting systems.
Coordinate construction packages including plan & profile drawings, stringing charts, staking tables, and bills of material.
Assign tasks, mentor junior team members, and manage quality control reviews.
Identify learning opportunities for EITs through shadowing, knowledge sharing, and training.
Perform quality control reviews across projects, provide engineering input, and conduct analyses for design options.
Assist with cost estimates, specifications, client meetings, and design reviews.
Develop project man‑hour estimates, task schedules, and manage multiple tasks while respecting schedule and budget.
Conduct site visits during design, construction, and as‑built phases.
Perform independent calculations: electrical clearance, lighting photometry, load, short‑circuit, overcurrent coordination, and arc‑flash studies.
Contribute to technical report writing.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience in distribution planning, modeling, coordination, and line design.
Experience with structural analysis, plan/profiles, line optimization, specifications, and drawings for overhead and underground projects.
Proficiency in PLS‑CADD and other design software.
Experience with NESC and tools such as CYMCAP, ETAP, Polywater Pull Planner.
Experience with pole‑loading analysis tools (e.g., O‑calc, SpidaCalc, Pole Foreman).
Strong client‑relationship skills.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience executing projects in the Power Market sector.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office and power‑market design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).

Targeted salary (Nevada): $80,640 – $132,480 per year, commensurate with experience.
