Instrumentation & Controls Engineer – Champaign, IL
Overview In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work at a brand-new, fully automated batch chemical blending and packaging facility. The company is seeking an engineer with strong instrumentation and controls experience to play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of production operations. You’ll leverage advanced DCS and PLC control systems to manage complex batch recipes and maintain consistent, high-quality output. Most of the equipment is already installed, but some additional help may be needed for more and commissioning. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing automation systems and instrumentation, as well as supporting continuous process and equipment improvements. You’ll also collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to implement automation upgrades and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Additionally, you’ll assist with the commissioning, testing, and validation of new control systems and equipment installations. You may also interface with outside contractors and global engineers for additional support.

Ideal Candidate Background Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or a closely related field). 2 years of hands‑on Distributed Control Systems (DCS) engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Experience working in batch and packaging environments, and familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and programming are all a plus.
