Job Summary The Manager Advanced Echo Imaging is responsible for the daily operations and safe application of all Advanced Cardiac Ultrasound Technology systems at the NCH Healthcare System, especially in the Outpatient Cardiac Imaging locations. This position schedules work assignments, coordinates equipment across multiple locations, and acts as a liaison for patient care activities with outside departments. The Manager observes staff, sets expectations, coaches, trains, counsels, and maintains adult echo and TEE accreditations. They advise staff and physicians on advanced echo imaging technologies and perform advanced cardiac imaging procedures.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assign equitable workload to all staff and ensure appropriate staffing across all locations, including multiple out‑patient sites.

Hire, coach, train, and conduct annual reviews and competency assessments for advanced imaging echo staff.

Assist the director in establishing policies and procedures pertaining to advanced echo imaging.

Ensure timely accomplishment of assignments and meet organizational objectives.

Maintain national accreditation standards with assistance of Lead Tech.

Maintain IAC accreditation by updating applications, communicating with IAC on standards, maintaining quarterly QI in TEE imaging, and completing all audits.

Assist Lead Hospital Echo Technologist and Director in quarterly QI meetings and staff competency reviews.

Provide clinical and technical support to staff in conjunction with the director.

Maintain high-level knowledge of transesophageal echocardiography, general cardiac anatomy, and pathology.

Demonstrate competence in general imaging cardiac structures and pathology grading.

Perform all critical care requests within department time guidelines.

Facilitate QI and technical training with staff and physicians for advanced imaging modalities.

Consult with physicians on advanced echo imaging anatomy, findings, and clinical/technical variables.

Evaluate left ventricular strain, acquire and process left ventricular 3D datasets detailing specific anatomical orientation.

Utilize mitral valve navigator or similar software to analyze surgical views for pathology and intervention type.

Communicate with physicians to ensure clinical emergencies are addressed timely.

Coordinate training and competency for diagnostic Mitral Valve Clip program.

Assure patient service recovery and communicate directly with patients regarding satisfaction and improvement suggestions.

Attend Structural Heart and Cardiac Imaging meetings.

Coordinate staff training in evolving advanced imaging techniques with the director.

Work with the director to assure equipment maintenance, software upgrades, purchase, and proper supplies.

Education, Experience And Qualifications

Minimum of an Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree required within 2 years of position start.

Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a hospital‑based Echo Technologist.

Experience with advanced cardiac imaging and structural heart/intra‑op imaging.

Expert knowledge of TEE scope processing system.

Strong organizational, communication, and technical skills.

Understanding of national accreditation requirements and QI requirements.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Registered with ARDMS or CCI accrediting bodies.

Member of the American Society of Echocardiography.

Training to perform RV 3D acquisition and post‑processing within 12 months of position start.

Training to perform LA 3D acquisition and post‑processing within 12 months of position start.

Training to perform strain analysis on LA and RV within 12 months of position start.

Training to perform 3D TEEs for mitral valve acquisition and post‑processing within 12 months of position start.

Training to perform 3D TEE on intra‑atrial septum for septal occlusion sizing within 12 months of position start.

Will work occasional weekends if necessary.

Intermediate computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
