The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of a plastic manufacturing production line, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across a 12‑hour shift, 7 pm to 7 am. This hands‑on role supervises production personnel, monitors equipment performance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a fast‑paced injection molding or plastic extrusion environment. Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate activities of production staff across assigned shifts to meet production goals and quality standards. Ensure proper setup, operation, and troubleshooting of plastic manufacturing equipment such as injection molding or extrusion machines. Monitor production schedules and adjust labor and machine utilization as needed to meet deadlines. Train, coach, and evaluate production employees; ensure compliance with safety procedures, work instructions, and quality policies. Partner with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve equipment or process issues promptly. Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and downtime logs. Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for scrap, rework, or process deviations. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and teamwork. Ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and industry safety regulations. Participate in daily production meetings and contribute to production planning and improvement efforts. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification. 3+ years of experience in plastic manufacturing, with 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong knowledge of plastic processing techniques such as injection molding, blow molding, or extrusion. Familiarity with production metrics (OEE, scrap rate, cycle time) and lean manufacturing principles. Ability to read technical drawings and interpret specifications and work orders. Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS or ERP systems. Available to work 12‑hour shift and weekends as needed. Skills
Experience in ISO 9001/IATF 16949-certified environments. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is . Knowledge of scientific molding or RJG certification. Understanding of quality systems, SPC, and troubleshooting tools. Working Conditions
Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Frequent walking, standing, and interaction with production staff and equipment. Use of PPE required based on operational area (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection).
