Job Description Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative products and services? At Sierra Nevada Corporation, you will work in multidisciplinary teams to bring concept of operations to fruition to further our customers' mission objectives. You will work both independently and as part of a team. Join us! As a manufacturing engineer, you will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll consult with program management, design engineers, quality, and production teams in order to develop the most efficient and cost effective means of producing our products at the highest level of quality possible. Your technical duties involve reviewing engineering designs for producibility and the development of tooling and fixtures, work instructions, production process and procedures. You will be involved in the application of manufacturing technologies and industry best practices during the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn‑key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities

Writing of work instructions / process plans

Process improvement projects

Troubleshooting of manufacturing issues

Review and disposition of non‑conforming material

Design for Manufacturing feedback to Design team

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor's of Science degree in related engineering discipline and typically 0–2 years of relevant experience

Basic understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools

Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams

The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience with electronics products manufacture and/or testing.

Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model‑based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes

Familiarity with work instruction/traveler development

Participation in dispositions of Non‑Conformance through a Material Review Board (MRB)

Experience with new product introduction and transition to production

Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems

Security Clearance Requirements This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non‑U.S. may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
