The School of Information Systems (SIS) in the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida (USF) is recruiting one or two tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026. The positions will be located on the Tampa campus and will participate fully as part of the vibrant SIS team across the three campuses of USF (Tampa St. Petersburg Sarasota-Manatee). The hired faculty members will conduct high quality research leading to publications in premier journals in the discipline, write grant proposals for federal competitive grants, teach in the undergraduate, masters and/or doctoral SIS programs, and engage with the business community. Responsibilities will also include service activities that support USF, the Muma College of Business, and the broader Tampa Bay communities.
Founded in 1989 the School of Information Systems (SIS) at the Muma College of Business is a top 20 research program based on publications in leading journals like MISQ, ISR and others recognized by AIS, Financial Times and UTD. SIS has 38 faculty who are thought leaders in AI analytics, digital transformation, design science, cybersecurity, machine learning and enterprise systems. SIS faculty hold editorial positions at top journals, lead international conferences, publish acclaimed books, secure major federal grants, receive patents, lead multiple NSF programs and have launched startups with support of NSF STTR. SIS is actively involved with businesses and the local community through its Information Systems Practice Center, advisory board, high school outreach and economic development activities, including publishing a state of the region report and creating a seed fund program. SIS offers well-regarded industry‑relevant Bachelors and Masters programs in AI Analytics, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance and a Ph.D. concentration in Information Systems. Responsibilities The candidate will have research and teaching responsibilities primarily in information systems with a focus on business applications of AI. Responsibilities will also include service activities that support the mission of the Muma College of Business and the Tampa Bay community.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications A PhD in Information Systems or a related discipline from a top University (an AAU institution or equivalent). Candidates who will successfully complete all requirements for their doctorate degree by July 2026 may also apply.
Preference will be given to candidates who can teach cutting‑edge courses related to business application of AI in undergraduate, masters and/or PhD programs, have research publications accepted or in late‑stage review in premier journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, or similar journals commensurate with experience, have interdisciplinary research agendas, and have the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with business audiences in Florida and beyond.
Preferred Qualifications
A record of research publication(s) accepted or in late‑stage review in premier journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research or similar journals commensurate with experience.
Ability to design and teach new courses for the bachelors, masters and/or doctoral programs in business applications of AI and analytics.
Interest and ability to build collaborative relationships with businesses, conduct research relevant to business and communicate effectively with business audiences.
Interest and ability to participate in interdisciplinary research projects across University Colleges.
