Your Specific Responsibilities:

Responsible for the design, coding, testing, and deployment of application development enhancements, maintenance, modifications, and/or fixes.

Works to ensure coding changes conform to Department hardware, software, development, and architecture standards, including:

Writing efficient and effective code that meets requirements and design constraints.

Following the standards and guidelines of the development team.

Collaborating with the team and development lead to complete projects/tasks and share knowledge.

Assists in maintaining, troubleshooting, and patching systems.

Provides data to business users in a clear, concise, and timely manner.

Documents design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information.

Creates, updates, and reviews documentation as required based on the development methodology utilized.

Remains up to date on current technologies and best practices in software development.

Performs security analyses and risk assessments as needed.

Attends training as needed.

Performs other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work with cross-functional teams

Ability to proactively identify problems and generate solutions

Ability to communicate technical information

Ability to operate as a technical lead for application development teams

Ability to mentor other developers on practices to improve the quality of their software

Ability to recommend best analysis based on his/her expertise

Ability to perform application code and design reviews

Ability to write a detailed technical specification document and apply best practices while designing application

Ability to create and maintain application documentation that conforms to established documentation standards

Ability to produce accurate estimates of the work required to accomplish assigned tasks

Knowledge and experience with software development practices

Knowledge and experience with relational databases

Understanding of N-Tier Architecture

Working knowledge of .Net 4.8 or later

Knowledgeable in Application Development Methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, and Iterative

Knowledge of the following:

C#.Net

ASP.Net

Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 or later

Azure DevOps/

American National Standards Institute (ANSI) SQL (Oracle, or SQL Server)

Crystal Reports

Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) software, such as LLBLGen

Web services (Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Simple Object Access protocol (SOAP), or Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)

Agile/Scrum team experience

Qualifications: As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

At least 5 years of experience with software development practices

At least 3 years of experience with relational databases

At least 1 years’ experience as a team member on a team of 5+ developers

May be subject to on-call during nights, holidays, and/or weekends

Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

The Application Systems Programmer III is a member of the Reemployment Assistance Application Development team of the Division of Information Technology. This position is responsible for the design, coding, testing, and deployment of application development enhancements, maintenance, modifications, and/or fixes.

You will work independently or with others and are responsible for identifying and analyzing complex application problems; developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to resolve problems. You will be required to plan, communicate, estimate work effort, task out to create assignments, and work cooperatively with others.
