Project Manager - Renewables
Location: Irvine, CA (remote work available)
Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 per year
Employment Type: Full‑time, salaried
Position Summary Tetra Tech is looking for a motivated Project Manager – Renewables to lead renewable energy development projects across California and the Western U.S. The role involves managing project scope, financing, permitting, and stakeholder engagement for solar, wind, battery storage, and transmission projects. You will work with a collaborative, entrepreneurial team to deliver technical, regulatory, and environmental solutions that drive renewable projects forward efficiently and compliantly.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as Project Manager, leading technical projects, budgets, and client communications.
Identify new business opportunities, prepare proposals and cost estimates, and develop project approaches.
Manage and oversee preparation of land‑use and resource permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies.
Support and lead siting, permitting, and environmental review for renewable energy projects.
Oversee project execution to ensure quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
Participate in and support business development initiatives, including proposal preparation and client meetings.
Coordinate project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and staff assignments.
Ensure compliance with Tetra Tech’s health, safety, and quality standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Geology, or a related field.
7–15 years of experience managing and supporting CEQA projects, including preparation of IS/MNDs, EIRs, or related CEQA documentation.
Proven experience with California permitting processes, including agencies such as:
California Energy Commission (CEC)
California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
California Coastal Commission (CCC)
California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW)
Regional Water Quality Control Boards
Local land‑use agencies
Prior environmental consulting experience strongly preferred.
Familiarity with the NEPA process a plus.
Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related discipline.
Experience managing complex, multi‑disciplinary projects in California.
Experience with energy development clients and large‑scale renewable projects.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform fieldwork and attend site visits and meetings as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work outdoors in varying conditions.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
Work may be performed remotely, in an office, or in the field.
Fieldwork may involve outdoor environments, uneven terrain, and weather variability.
Collaboration with regional and cross‑disciplinary teams is expected.
