Electronics Security Service Technician 2 - Tysons, VA Security Clearance:

Overview M.C. Dean is a global engineering and technology solutions company with more than 7,000 employees. In Tysons, VA, the Electronics Security Service Technician 2 works in our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit to design, engineer, integrate, operate and maintain electronic security services for federal, local and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

Execute field operations: on‑site installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment and systems.

Ensure functionality and reliability of electronic security technologies including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio‑visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command & control systems.

Conduct site surveys, configure hardware and software, test systems for proper operation, and provide technical support to customers.

Analyze and interpret M.C. Dean drawing packages to assess constructability and ensure accuracy.

Verify correct charges in timesheets and execute installation and maintenance activities within planned durations.

Track and inventory tools, conduct consistent tool inspections, and perform daily equipment inventory.

Participate in daily safety briefings (ORM meetings) and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Plan and prioritize tasks, embodying M.C. Dean’s vision, mission, and values.

Communicate clearly with project teams and customers, providing constructive feedback.

Install system raceways, cabling, equipment racks, enclosures, panels, and mounting hardware, ensuring proper grounding and NEC compliance.

Terminate, test, and configure electronic devices, network and IT equipment, and perform cable terminations and accessories in accordance with industry standards.

Survey and document existing field conditions, providing feedback and recommendations to the project team.

Act as a collaborative team member, displaying dedication, punctuality, and preparedness for work.

Qualifications

Clearance/Citizen Type:

U.S. citizenship required; SECRET clearance required.

Education:

HS diploma or GED; Military Electronics Training (minimum 720 classroom hours) preferred.

Progressive Experience:

4+ years of electronics installation and/or maintenance on multiple systems and customer programs.

Strong oral, written and presentation skills.

Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.

Time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

Valid driver’s license; acceptable driving record required; occasional use of company vehicle may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Vendor certifications in IDS, ACS, and CCTV systems (e.g., CCURE, Lenel, Identiv/Hirsch, Velocity, Bosch Radionics, Bosch CCTV, Bosch BVMS, AIphone Intercom, Airphone, FFT, DIVAR, Windows OS).

Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician or Electrical Apprenticeship program.

Three years focused experience in electronic security systems.

Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

Lift, carry and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.

Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.

Work at heights up to 60 feet, using scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and ladders.

Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

Good vision (may be corrected) and ability to see in color.

Standard ladder use without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools.

Recognize potential problems, apply general rules to specific problems and produce appropriate solutions.

Combine information to form conclusions and find relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
